TOMMY-S PARCELS
NEW ZEALANDER'S STRUGGLE . WITH THE LONDON G.P.O. Complaints are reaching the "Daily Mail" regarding the postal restrictions on Christmas parcels of comforts for our soldiers at the front. The high postage rates —Is. 4d. up to 7lb.'for France, and Is. 9d. up to 71b. for the Mediterranean —aro a heavy tax on soldiers' mothers and wives with slender means. A New Zealander now in London who considers that some of the postal regulations are too elaborato writes to the "Daily Mail" :— "To-day 1 made up a parcel to send lo a friend in Hie Dardanelles, and having made everything safe for transit I wrapped the parcel >up in strong brown paper and proceeded lo the post office. "Scene I.—The post office cannot accept the parcel. It must be done up in waterproof paper, corners padded, and sewn up in canvas. Much annoyed, J relumed to comply with lite regulations. "Scene ll.—Having taken half a clay to make the parcel right, 1 again advanced on the post office, only to have to retire as the parcel was do v.. overweight. I was told that 1 would have to make it lighter. 1 put that <loss. down lo the padding, waterproof paper,'and canvas, which I can assure you ai'd .»( no use to the boys at the , front
