There was a great rush at the Bank of England to deposit American securities in order to assist the exchange rate, and the bank was compelled to i extend its hours of business. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr, It. M'KenHa) recently appealed to the public to unload its American securitiei in order to assist the exchange. ;
