FROM SYDNEY DIRECT. On account of her late departure from Sydney the Manuka did not arrive in port till 4.45 a.m. yesterday. She experienced fine weather throughout the trip. The vessel berthed at the Queen's Wharf No. 1 south to land about 1400 tons of cargo, which included transhipments ex the following vessels:—Arabia. Aldenham, Obra, Fultala, Ostcrley; Palma, Wi6mal, Arawatta, Hitachi Mani, Southey, and Koonda, JUOUW REPORTED. The local agents for the A. and A. Lino have been advised that their chartered steamer Riouw, which has been greatly delayed on the run down from New York, called at Melbourne on Monday to replenish bunkers. She was to have, continued her journey to Auckland. yesterday,, and is due there abaut January 24 and at Wellington ' about January 27. OPAWA LEAVES LIVERPOOL. Advice has been received by the local office of the F. and S. Line that their chartered steamer Opawa left Liverpool on January 7 for Australian and New Zealand ports. This port should be made about Maroh 18. ROTORUA LEAVES THE OAPE. A cablegram has been received stating that the Sew Zealand Shipping Company's Rotorua has left Capo Town in continuation of her journey from London to Auckland, Wellington, Duiedin, and Timaru. February 17 is the date on .which the Ruahine is cxpected to arrive here. KUAHINE AND PAPAROA. Leaving Wellington to-day the Rualiine will proceed on to Lyttelton and subsequently Dunedin. Gisborne will, bo the liner's next port of call, and then Wellington about January 24. On January 2S she will clear this port for London. The Paparoa will load at Oamaru. Waitp.ro, "Wanganui, and Wellington. Sihc will bo dispatched for. London towards the end of this month.

SALT AND GYPSUM CARGOES. Advico has been received by the local office of the Union Company that the ; Kaituna left Adelaide on January 8 for Dunedin, Lytlelton, and, Wellington. Bhe is duo here about January 19. The Kaiapoi, which is at present discharging at southern ports, is expected ere to-morrow. Both vessels have cargoes of salt and gypsumto land here. . MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. H. Boyd, second engineer of the Corinna, having come ashore at Wellington, Mr. A. M'Arthur has . filled the vacancy. Mr. G. R. Falla, second engineer of the Manuka, lias come ashore on leave, and Mr. J. Gillaadcrs has signed on the vessel as second. Mr. G. Knowles has joined the Manuka as chicf officer in place of Captain Martin, who has been given command of the Waipori. Captain Swales-Eyro, of the latter vessel, has assumed command of the Kiritane, Cheese for transhipment to the Corinthic at Wellington, as well as general cargo for this port, will be loaded at the Bluff by the Kowhal to-morrow. The C. and D. liner Ncrehana is due bock at Wellington from Tokomaru Bay, Qisborne.'and Napier about January 24. and she will sail for London about January 26. R.M.S. Corinthic will take in- Home cargo at Gisborno to-day. She will leavo there on Friday for Auckland, and will sail from the latter port for Wellington on Tuesday next. The New Zealand Shipping Company's Berwick Law (from Montreal) is expectod to arrive at Wellington about January 20. She was at Melbourne last Friday, and after visiting Sydney and Auckland will come on here. With dairy produce for transhipment to Home steamers. the Corinna is due 1 back here from Now Plymouth on Friday. Departure will' be taken for southern ports on Saturday. A projected departure from Kaipara tor Melbourne yesterday was the Union steamer Kaitangata. The Waipori is expected to leave Newcastle to-day for Now Plymouth and Lyttclton. En route to London, the New Zealand Shipping Company's Orari is reported to have reached Monte Video on Friday last after a run of 22 days frm Wellington. At 9 p.m. yesterday the Shaw-SaviU liner Kia Ora was to have left Napier in order to complete loading at Wellington. It ie cipccted that the vessel will clear this port for London on Friday. The Vacuum Oil Company's charercd steamer Baron Cawdor, from New York with case-oil, is the first vessel of midsize to be berthed at the new Thorndon breastwork. It 1b reported by a Melbourne exchange that the E. and A. liner Aldcnham lias been sold. Built for the Aberdeen Line, and originally known as Nineveh, the vessol was for many years a familiar trader with passengers and cargo between London and Australia, via- Cape Town. Sho was subsequently disposed of to the E. and A. Line, and lias since been regularly employed in tho service of that company Trom Japan and China to the Commonwealth. Tho name of her new owners is not disclosed, but it is understood that they are to take delivery of her In Sydney for which port sho left Melbourne a few days ago.
