The report and balance-sheet for the year of the Painters' Union shows that tho credit balance this year was £675 13s v as against £665 15s. lOcl. at last audit, and tiliis notwithutanding the payment of a large sum out of tho accident fund. The sum of £194 18s. lias beeiT paid in accident benefits since tho fund was inaugurated. The report mentioned that 37 members have joined tho Expeditionary Forces. New members to the number of 33 have joined the union in tho half-year. Tile union lias been in close touch witli the Painters' Federation Executive in dealing with the use of white lead, and it is hoped that definite steps would be taken shortly. Officers were nominated as follow:—President, Mr. P. O'Neill; vice-presidents, Messrs. CI. liidge and W. Rash; treasui'Ci', Messrs. J. A. Smith and F. Wallace; management; committeo (three members), Messrs. W. Coopor, F. Wallace, G. Ridge, TV. Hash, and B. Ballinger; trustees, Mossrs. H. Bartlett and T. Grafiam; auditor, Mr. L. Rearden.
