A NEW SOUTH AFRICAN FORCE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Johannesburg, January 9 A great review was held of a rew force raised for a special purpose. General Smuts, who accompanies the fo:ce, which is under the supreme command of General Smith-Dorrieui congratulated the troops, and said: "You are going to light hordes of barbarians scientifically trained by German officers, but we are thoroughly versed in that sort of work, and know what to do. It is' impossible for mo to say whether the campaign will bo a long one or a short one, but I know you will carry it through successfully." [General Smith'-Dorrien was recently appointed to the command of East Africa, and other previous messages liavo irfdicated that a South African contingent was being raised for serace in East Africa.]
