Acoording to the Christchurch "Press," of the two hundred members of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand who have enlisted for active service, about fifteen have gone from the Christchurch branch. In order not to dislocate business arrangements too violently, the bank authorities have granted leave to tlioso enlisting as circumstances permitted. At present, in Christchurch, several members of tho bank's staff aro awaiting the granting of leavo by the bank authorities. Mr. J. B. AVait, ledger-keeper, leaves for Trentham this week; and Messrs. J. Gudgeon, toller, and D. W. Russell, ledger-keeper, have recently received the jieoessary leave and have enlisted. In tho case of Messrs. Gudgeon and Kus6ell, their applications for leavo have been in since August last. Mr. Gudgeon has. already seen service with the Australian Expeditionary Force which occupied the German islands in tho Pacific.
