MAGISTRATE'S COURT
« YESTERDAY'S OASES. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided at yesterday's sittings of tlie Magistrato's Court. There were only a few cases to be dealt with. Nellie Holford, a married woman, admitted the theft oF linen articles, valued at £1 2s. 4d., tho property of George and Kersley. The goods had been rccovcred and as tho accused was a first offender and in poor circumstanccs, the Magistrate merely convicted her and ordered her to appear for sentence when called upon. An old offender, named May Gibbons, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment for using obscene language. For theft; of a watch chain, valued at 55., tho same accused was fined os., with the option, of 24 hours' imprisonment. William Bertram Levey, who was arrested for fighting with another man in Customhouse Quay, was fined 205., the alternative being three days' imprisonment. The police were unable to arrest the other man. Andrew Davidson, who pleaded guiltv to a charge of drunkenness, was fined 205., in default to undergo three days' imprisonment. Several first-offenders were also dealt with.
