CAMP NOTES
A.S.C. ROUTE MARCH. ' The Ninth Reinforcements were placed on an aotivo service footing as from January 3, and' the troops will be reviewed at Tre'ntham Camp at 11 o'clock to-day by His Excellency the Governor. Number 5 Company of the Army Service Corps, numbering 80 men, with 17 wagons, under' Lieutenant Anderson, were to set out from Tauherenikau Camp at 6 a.m. to-day on a three days' trek, during which two nights will be spent in bivouac, the men returning to camp on Suuday evening. The route followed will be to Greytown and Martinborougli, and southward along the edge of the lake. This march will take the place of a longer one, which Captain H. H.! Wright, Director of Supplies and Transport, had arranged for next week. The trek would have been from Tauherenikau to Rangiotu, a six-days' journey, and would have begun on Tuesday next. As thirty of the horses were required elsewhere after this week, this interesting programme had to he postponed, and tho shorter outing substituted. No. 5 Company A.S.C. makes an imposing cavalcade when on the road tvith 17 wagons drawn by well-groomed and well-conditioned horses.
Tauherenikau Appointments. The following temporary appointments havo been approved by the Camp Commandant at Tauherenikau:— Corporal B. Kingdon, F Company, 10th, to be sergeant; Lce.-Corpl. W. R. Company, 10th, to he corporal; Lce.-Corpl, J. D. F. Carroll, F Company, 10th, to bo corporal; Lce.-Corporal C. Nicliol, I'tes. J. D. Vernon, C. E. Webb, T. H. Hehbard, J. M. Bruce, T. J. Weloh, W. A.
