1 Wellington Wedding. s At the Church of Christ, Wellington South, Mr. W. Parker, of the T 11.N.Z.A., only son of Mr. and Mrs. ' W. Parker, of Rangiora, Canterbury, formerly of England, was recently mar- " ried to Miss Ida Palmer, eldest daughter of Mrs. B. Palmer, the Rev. W. Phillips officiating, Tho "brido was I daintily dressed in embroidered silk * muslin, with the usual bridal wreath and veil, and carried a bouquet of ~ white roses and sweai peas. The i bridesmaids were the Misses Violet 4 Palmer, in Swiss brodeno muslin, with * a black net hat, and Elma Hood, who ; wore silk voile, and a blue hat trim- ; med with lilies. Their shower bouquets j were of sweet peas and mauve gladioli. Mr. A. Gray, also of the 11.N.Z.A., attended as best man. The bridegroom's , gifts were « ruby pendant and chain ' to the bride, and to tho two brides--1 maids -a cameo brooch and gold cameo ring respectively. 1 Patriotic Cake Room. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Mason (Kawhia) and Miss Leask (Gore) are the guests of Mrs. J. A. Austin, To -Ngaio, Waikanae. Miss Speedy has returned from Eketahuna, where she lyas tho guest of Mrs. Matheson. Miss Sommerville (Wellington) is spending the vacation at AVaikanae. . > An Auckland paper announces tho engagement of Miss Vera Gill, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Gill, "Tho Laurels," Remuera, to Mr. C. F. Efattland, second sen of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hartland, of Guildford, Remuera. Mrs. J. B. MacEwoii and her little son returned this week from their long trip to Canada and England. Mrs. Noel Adams returned to Featherston yesterday after a brief visit to Wellington. • Mrs. Teape,' of Rotorua, is staying, with., her parents, the Hon. G. -W. Russell and Mrs. Russell, in Molesworth Street. ' Miss Longford sailed last evening for Christchurch, en route to Dunedin, on a visit to her relatives. Mrs. Dr. Smith, of Himterville, is staying at Plimmerton with her children, and with her Mrs. Shannon, Marton,, who is visiting her son now in Trentham Camp. Mrs. G'owan "Webster (Khartoum North), who has been on a visit to her tnot-her, Mrs. Cecil Nortlicote, for x the past six months, left for England by the Remuera, to join her husband, who is now attached to the Royal Garrison Artillery, Woolwich. The engagement is announced of Miss Lillie Brown, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. ,W. Brown, Northland, xo Sergeant-Bugler J. Symons, N.Z.R-.8. son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Symons, of Johnsonville. Miss Mina Arndt-, who has been sketching over in Nelson, has returned, and is resuming work at her studio.Mrs. Latham, of Hawke's - Bay, and her daughter are. tho guests of v Mrs. Corrv, Hawker. Street. Mrs. Latham is down to see her son, who is a member of tho 9th Reinforcements. ' Sir Robert and Lady Walker, who were recently staying at Government House, are at present the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Beswick, Carlton Hill Road, Christehurcb.
Hastings Wedding. On January 4, at the residence of the bride's parents, in ' Pakowhai Road, Hiss Jean Hunt, daughter of Mr. J. Hunt, was married to Mr. Frank Byrne, manager of the Hastings branch of the New Zealand Clothing Factory, tho Rev. Father Mahoncy officiating. Miss Mary Hunt attended as bridesmaid, and Mr. S. Baird acted as bost man. The honeymoon is being spent in the south. \ Pulierau Wedding. At the residence of Mr. .Robert Young, "Oreekside Farm," Pukerau,' on December 15, Miss Elizabeth Young, second daughter of Mr.' R. Young, was married to Mr. llonald M'Phedran, of Kelso, the Rev. D. M'Coll performing the cdremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a soft white silk, whilst the only bridesmaid, Miss Agnes Young, wore white Japanese silk. .Mr. Robert Pullar acted as best man. Mr. and Mrs. M'Phedran are spending their honeymoon in Timaru. Hie Misses Crabb, of Palmerston North, aro sailing shortly for Home, where Miss H. Crabb intends studying painting, and her sister will take up Red Cross work. At All Saints' Church, Taradale, on December 23, Rifleman Robert Reed, of the New Zealand' Rifle Brigade, was married to Miss Ethel Richardson, youngest daughter of Mr. and' Mrs. Richardson, "The Chestnuts, 1 " Taradalo, tho Rev. A. Clarke officiating. Mr. and Mrs.' G. S. Wenley, of Hawke's Bay, are leaving shortly for England. Mr. Oliver Riddell (Mount Bruce), with Sirs. Riddell and family, have gone to Waverley to see Mr. Riddell's brother, Mr. Andrew Riddell. Nurse J. Campbell, of Dunedin, who has been engaged in private nursing for some time in Nelson, will after a short term at Trentham leave for Egypt by tho hospital 6hip Mahono. Mrs. Brodie,_ Hastings, and her children, are visiting AA'ellington. Mrs. Russell, of Victoria, arrived from Australia this week, and is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Rutherford, at the Mendip Hills, Christchurch.
