Towards tho end of this week tho Kai-t-angata will load timber at Kalpara for Melbourne. On account of a shortage of labour the departure of the Wostralia for northern ports has been postponed till 4 p.m. today. An endeavour will be made to work Napier arid Gisborno to-morrow. The Shaw-Savill liner liisi Ora will arrivo back here from Napier and Gisborno about January 30 to complete bunkering aT]d loading. ' She is expected to get away from this port for London on January 12. lleiisrs. Sauford, Ltd., of Auckland, have purchased the coastal steamer Baioona for uso as a trawler. An accident occurred to the Union Co.'b Karitane recently whilst she was-en.route from Sydney to Strahan. The vessel is ' reported to havo struck an uncharted rock. A course was made for Melbourne, and the Karitane was docked for repairs. Some plates were buckled, and thero was a 6ft. hole amidships. The Delphic, which is at prcient discharging Home cargo at Australian ports, will come across to Now Zealand about t.ho beginning of next mouth to load for London. En route from Calcutta to Wellington, via Auckland, the Union Oompany's big cargo steamer Waihora passed Goodo Island on Thursday last. The northern port should be readied on January 9, and Wellington a week later. On Wednesday last the Waiwera' left • Cape Town in' continuation of. her journey from Montreal to New Zealand ports. A general average has been declared on i the cargo of the C. and D. liner Nerehana, due here from London, via ivay ports, to-day. No payment will at present be asked tor. The Nerehana was docked recently at Sydney as sho was leaking, though the damage to the hull was found to be very slight.The lCaiapoi has left Edithbure fully laden with salt and gypsum for Wellington, via Timaru and Lyttelton: ■ ; After a line woather trip the Moeraki arrived -from Sydney yesterday morning.' . She will go on to Lyttelton this afternoon, returning here in time to sail for Sydney at 5 ip.m. on Thursday.
