A report from General Townshend istates that the enemy asked for four ■ hours' armistice to bury his dead and 1 remove the wounded before the fort .which he attacked on Christmas Day. Independent reports confirm the heavy Turkish losses sustained at Otesiphon, also during General Townshend's retreat and recent attaoks at Kut-el-Amara.
