IRONMOULDBRS- CONFERENCE
Delegates to the New Zealand, Federated Moulders' Association commenced their annual conference in Wellington, tho following boing present : —Messrs. J. Johnston and A. W. Philp (Auckland), Messrs. P. Mullins, W. H. Russell (Wellington), D. Christie and J. W. Hull (Christchurch), J. W. Dove and J. Thompson (Dunedin), Mr. S. V. Thomas (federal secretary, ex-officio). Mr. Mullitfs was elected president of the conference, and Mr. J. W. Hull secretary. Tho annual report referred to the number of men from the trade who had gone on active service, and tho provision made on their behalf. The membership roll now contains 477 names. Trade throughout tho Dominion, it was stated, had been good, very few members being out of work. The association's finances were highly satisfactory. The relief: fund showod a credit balance of £115, and thero was a balance of receipts in tho general fund of £136. In the general account there was a balanco of £83 3s_. lOd. Conference decided to interview the Minister of Labour with reference to tho employment of moulders in Government workshops at less than the award rates, also regarding the employment of labourers iit core-making. v , The Dominion award for the trade expires this month, and conference will frame claims for a new agreement. • The conference will conclude to-day.
