The New Leaf for fJVHiS day thousands will he reviewing the events of the dying year and drawing convulsions. To most of us the New Year means turning over a new leaf — that is, deciding upon doing things or avoiding doing things so that each may. benefit. Everyone will hope that the great war will be brought to a close as early as possible in the New Year; but that is only a hope, and does not come into the.schemeof "turning over a new leaf." The plans and decisions of each one of us will differ in material respects, but there are two decisions that should' form a positive part of the programme for the New Year, and these may be summarised as under: — (1) I will not, under any circumstances, at any. time, buy any goods 'or commodities "made in Germany," believing that in doing so I am helping New Zealand and the Empire. ' (2) I will whenever I possibly can buy all I can from James Smith, Ltd., believing that in doing so I am serving my own best interests, and saving money. These are tlio two resolutions'that tho people of Wellington and district should register r.ncl carry out in the interests of the Empire and in their own interests. James Smith, Ltd. ,• 80 CUBA ST., WELLINGTON.
