In the Vosges at Hartmannsweilerkopf we carried some of the trenohes which were still held by the enemy, capturing one hundred prisoners IN THE VOSCES. FRENCH CAPTURE OF PRISONERS. (Reo. December 30, 8.15 p.m.) Paris, December 29. A French communique says:—Despite violent counter-attacks, we secured a further series of trenohes at Hartinanns■weilerkopf to-day, capturing three hundred prisoners. The total number of able-bodied prisoners captured since the beginning of the attack is 1668. Prisoners admit heavy German losses since December 21. FRENCH SUCCESS. ADMITTED BY THE GERMANS. (Reo. December 30, 8.30 p.m.) Amsterdam, December 29. A German communique says two French night attacks pai'tly penetrated our positions at Hartmannsweilerkopt. ENEMY AEROPLANES. ATTACK AN AERODROME. London, December 30, 12.55 a.m. High Commissioner's report:— Yesterday the enemy attacked unsuccessfully an aerodrome. Of four machines only two reached their objective, and no damage was done. A British aeroplane was shot down. Last night a successful enterprise was carried out near Armentieres; the enemy's trenches were entered and bombed with good effect. There were numerous enemy casualties, ours being only slight. , . ~ . ■To-day our artillery was cfteetiva against trenches and billots between Mar metz and Monchy. About Ypros there; is a heavy reciprocal bombardment.
