IN THE SEA OF MARMORA . CRUISE OE A SUBMARINE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, December 23. A submarine officer, • describing twonty-four days' cruising in the Sea of Marmora, says: "We were under .firo on an average - thrice daily. We penetrated ail sorts of places,- shelled the railway and blocked t„he line. A troop train camo up and it was the funniest thing to. see the train hiding behind tiees. We smashed it all to blazes and the troops scuttled. They fired tons of ammunition,' but we were out of range. Altogether we sank a gunboat, five steamers,' seventeen large sailers, destroyed three trains ana one embankment. We dived into Constantinople, torpedoing the arsenal and wharf, and blew up lighters loaded with munitions, Tho explosion ivas terrific. We had a duel with a gunboat which was driven off., After that-we were left alone and everything ran away when we were near. The only drawback was tliat we all suffered from dysentery." •'AN ILL-WIND" WHICH HELPED THE-SUBMARINES (Rec. December 26, 5.5 p.m.) Athens, December 24. Recent storms carried away booms which the Turks had constructed in the Narrows.'. Tho Allies' submarines,, profiting by tho opportunity, passed through into the Sea of Marmora. AN ENEMY STORY London, December 23; A Turkish communique states: "Our artillery on the Anatolian coast of the Straits successfully bombarded tho landing places at Tikke Bumu,' and sank near Tikke a small ammunition vessel.' We found in one sector cleared of the enemy provisions sufficient for an elitiro army corps for a long time, a million sandbags, a thousand tents, five hundred blankets, four thousand stretchers, and one mortar.
