FRENCH SUCCESS L_ 1221 GERMAN PRISONERS The High Commissioner reports:— London, December 22, 4.15 p.m. In the Vosges yesterday, an attack enabled the French to improvo their positions considerably on the slopes cast of Hartmannswoilorkopf. The numben of German prisoners taken was 1221 a CERMAN ADMISSION. RIDGE CAPTURED BY FRENCH.'""* Amsterdam, December 22. A German communique states: "Thel French captured the ridge of Hartsmannsweilerkopf. We captured a portion of the lost position. A French! attack at.Metzeral was repulsed. 1 TRENCHES TAKEN AND RETAKEN, • A FRENCH COMMUNIQUE. (Rec. December 23, 11.35 p.m.)' , Paris, December 23. 'A' French communique says: "Oiir sr. ' exploded an ammunition depot at> iflois Boughot, on the heights of the •Meuse. "The enemy regained a footing in part of. the trenches at Hartmannsweil-i leirbopf, which we captured on Tuesday.'' GERMAN PATROL ROUTED. ENEMY TRENCHES MINED. London, December 23, 11.55 a.m. High Commissioner's report:— "At Beaurains we mined the enemy' 4 trenches on the Lille Road. "In. the region of Roye a German [patrol, was routed, ' leaving behind! •wounded. 1 "On tho heights of the Meuse our ■artillery exploded an enemy munitions' idepot. • "At Hartmaiisweillerkopf, after 'a series of local actions, the enemy succeeded in gaining a footing in part ot . 1 (the trenches we recaptured yesterday BLOWN UP. HUN AMMUNITION DEPOTS. V Amsterdam, December 22. The newspaper "Telegraaf" states that a powder factory and several amv munition depots at Munster, West* pbalia, were blown up, causing enori inous damage in the town. THREE EXPLOSIONS. THREE HUNDRED WOMEN KILLED! (Rec: December 23, 8.5 p.m.) Amsterdam, December 22. There were three explosions at Muns* ter between 8 and, 11 o'clock at night. Six hundred women were employed and • three hundred were killed.' The eau6B of the explosion is not known.
