SIR JOSHUA WILLIAMS
By tho death of Sir Joshua Williams New Zealand has lost one of her most distinguished citizens, and the Empire hasten deprived of the services of a jurist of outstanding ability. As a member o.f the Supremo Court Bench of this Dominion Sir Joshua Williams was most highly esteemed both by' his fellow-Judges and by the Bar, and enjoyed the full confidence of the whole community. His attractive personality, his keen sense of duty, and his great reputation as a lawyer secured for him a very high place among the public men of New Zealand. He possessed a thoroughly judicial mind. ~ Ho was an upright Judge—patient, impartial, courteous, and firm. He always maintained the 1 proper dignity of the Court over which he presided. His knowledge of tho law was deep and wide, and some of his judgments aro given prominence in the legal text-books. About two years ago he was appointed to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, one of the highest honours that can be bestowed upon a Judge.
