ELLERSLIE TRACK NOTES. INTERESTING GALLOPS ,iii Auckland, December 22 Colonel Soult and Sir Solo ran the best part of a mile and a quarter oil the tan. Tho watch read lmin. 54Jsec. for tho circuit, with Colonel Soult pleasing the better of tho pair. Sir Solo is improving with each gallop. Castaliu. and Self took about a second and a half longer to cover a round on the same track. Self finished in front. Mulli'ngar appeared to hold Jack Delaval safe over a round of the tan in a time which was similar to that registered by Colonel Soult. Warstep and Snub attracted a deal of attention in a seven furlongs task, and made lmin. 31sec. for the distance, with Warstep going the better of the pair at the close. Last year's Cup winner certainly moved with all her old freedom. The general opinion formed of Snub was that he i 6 the makingo of a good handicap performer. Kooya encompassed, a round at a good solid pace, and made lmin. 36isec. for the last seven furlongs. El Gallo scored over Worcester on tho tan, the pair registering lmin. 57sec. for the circuit. Christine, whose entry for the Cup was regarded as somewhat of a joke, rather impressed the onlookers by defeating Lady Penury and Pendoon over six furlongs on the outside of tho course. The watch read lmin. 23.1 sec. Christine went on and covered about another half a mile at agcod pace. Blackall and Eligible, both looking bright and well, covered ten furlongs in about 2min. 21sec., without being extended. Ciiakwana startled the track watchers by reeling off five furlongs in a littlo over lmin. 4sec., and finishing boldly. Goldfire ran lmin. 5 2-sscc. for five furlongs, -and was relishing his task. Hyginas and Centre were sent at a good serviceable pace, registering 536ec. for the last half-mile. Tact, Loyal Arch, and Te Papapa was the order of this trio at tho close of a five furlong sprint in lmin. 4sec. Downham had Gold Painting as a companion over six furlongs, run in lmin, 20 l-ssec. Gold Necklet worked six furlongs on the tan, the last five bcinjr rnn lmin. lOscc. Bimeter put up an attractive sprint on tho tan, registering 51 2-ssec, for half a mile, and finishing strongly. Merry Roe hashed over half a niilo on the tan in 52sec. Potoa was worked about seven furlongs on the tan in lmin. 37 2-ssee.
