ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND FIVE HUNDRED ASSISTANTS The Jfayor oml Mayoress (Mr. and Mrs. Luke) reported yesterday that all tho arrangements in connection with the. Christinas dinner to he given the soldiers in camp at Trent-ham and May Morn to-morrow liatl been made. In all 'there will l,e 8000 men to feed — 6000 at Tfonthain and 2000 at May Mom. To attend to these men at the tables to-morrow oveniiig, Mrs. Luke has gathered round her somo 500 lady assistants. A section of these ivill leave for Trentham and May Morn by the train which will leave town at 10 a.m., arriving at Trentham at'll.ls a.m.', and May Morn at noon, to set the tables. The rest of the assistants : will leave by a special train that will start at 3 p. 111., leaving ample time for the allocation of duties before the banquet commences at 6 p.m. A special train will leave May Morn for town at 8.30 p.m., stopping at Trentham to pick up the assistants there. This train will arrive in town about 10 p.m. -. Mr.-Luke stated yesterday that it was most encouraging to find the interest that the citizens were taking in the Christmas dinners to be given at Trentham and May Morn. Mrs. Luke was taking out about 500 ladies to assist at tho tables, and had she wanted a thousand lie believed they would have been forthcoming. It only needed fine weather to make the affair a complete success. The Town Hall Function. It should be made quite clear that there is to be 110 set dinner for soldiers at the Town Hall 011 Christmas Day. What the Mayor has arranged is that there will be refreshments, ample and varied, for all men in khaki between 110011 and a late hour at night—at least to the'time the menliave to catch their trains back to camp. There will bo a sort- of continuous luncheon and afternoon tea in progress during the whole of tho afternoon and evening, and from tea-time onward there will be musical items and song 3 to help keep the fun going. *
