SUMMARY AND FORECAST ] AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are for variable winds, with moderate to strong easterlies to southerlies prevailing. Oloudy and misty "wea-ther is probable, with rain in many parts of the country. The barometer has a rising tendency in the south, but is likely to fall temporarily in tho' northern districts. Considerable rain has fallen in the West Coast, and southernmost portions of the South Island, and elsewhere wara, dull, and humid conditions have ruled. Strong northerly winds have predominated, and little change of atmospheric pressure has token place generally, but a slight increase has been reported in the southern districts to-day.
