RETURNED SOLDIERS
THREE ON THE MANUKA. ' Three returned soldiers were inward passengers' by, the Manuka' from Sydney last night. . , Private Edmonds, 13th Canterbury,, Fifth Reinforcements, was badly woundad by a bullet in the right hand, on August 23/ The wound is healed, but his hand is badly damaged. He was sent' back from the front to Malta, then to Sydney, by tbe Hospital Ship Karoola, and so to New Zealand, by the Manuka. , _ I Private Whatuira-, of the Maori Main Body, is invalided 1 , after serving three months at the front. His home is in Wairoa, Hawke's Bay. He also was sent back in the Karoola. Gunner E. Coombe is a New Zealantler who served .with-the Australian Main Body, havine beon in the Commonwealth Postal Service in Sydney before ho enlisted. His injuries were_ a shell wound, and a dislocated hip, caused by being buried by a shell explosion. Fortunately. ,he is recovering well, and is in New Zealand on furlough to visit . his relatives.
