SUMMARY AND FORECAST AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY, Present indications arc for freshening northerly to westerly winds and a decrcaeing tendency in barometrio pressure generally. Expect warm end humid conditions, but -unsettled weather is likely to follow, -with rain in many parts of the Dominion. Variable breezes prevailed on Saturday and Sunday, but moderate to strong northorltes have ruled to-day. The weather, al-' though dull, lias hecn fair .and warm generally. DISTRICT REPORTS, (From Our SpecTcfl Correspondents.) Feathoreton, December 20.—Summer weaMastert'on, December 20—Very warm day. Private E. Reidy, who went with the First Contingent from Dimedin, writing to his relatives at Sydney, from an Australian hospital, under date September 3, give 3 an idea of the severity of tho campaign. He mentions that , out of his platoon, which was over 50 . 'strong at' tho start, ho is the only one ; loft. Private Reidy speaks highly of i tho attention received at the hospital. I "Tommies, Australians, Now Zealand- • ers," ho says, "aro all treated the ; samo; there is no frfvour of any kind ' shown. The war has paved tho way for I an understanding between New Zeai land aud Australia, Tho New Zealand* f ers know now that the Australian Is - tin?, Aiuutf, nhao in the world."-
