SWIMMING

ENCOURAGING JUNIORS. Tho decision of the Swifts Swimming Club to energetically foster swimming among the younger generation was put into effect at Te Aro Baths on Saturday afternoon, when a 50-yards boys' handicap race was held. There were five starters, and a good race resulted as follows:—S. Prince, scr., 1; H. Desmond, scr. 2; S. Waters ser. 3. Also started: J. Hunter, 7sec.; and G. Hickling, 6scc. A trophy was handed to tho winner at tho conclusion of the event.
