Mails for Australian States and South Africa close at Auckland, per Riverine, on Tuesday, December 21, at 4.15 p.m. As correspondence for all neutral countries is subject to censorship, it is urged in order t-o avoid delays that such correspondence be posted in ample time for tho mail, the day previous to its dispatch, if possible. On Friday, the 24th inst., the Carrier's' Department (entrance upstairs from Fcatherston Street) will lie open for the delivery ot correspondence addressed to streets in.the city and suburbs from 8 to '9 p.m.; also the public counter for the delivery of correspondence addressed to the Post Office will be open from 8 to '9 p.m. The parcels delivery counter will be open from 8 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, the 25th Decembor (Christmas Day), the Postal Department will bo closed in all its branches. Mails for dispatch by steamers will close at 8 p.m. on the previous evening, and the only dispatches of correspondence by trains will close on Christmas Day as follow:—For tho Wairarapa, Hawkc's Bay, Manawatu, Eangitikci, Wansanui, and Taranaki districts at 5.45 a.m., and for Auckland and Auckland district at 8 a.m. The city and suburbs receivers will not. be cleared during the day, but the midnight clearances wilt be made as usual on Sunday, tile 26th December.
