INTERESTING DETAILS OF-THE INTRIGUES
HOW THE 'ALLIES "FOILED THE&ENEMY'S PLANS, (Rec. December 18, 5.6 i>.m.)' London, December 16. Details of the Teheran events preceding the defeat of the Turco-German: intrigues show that tho colonel of the Persian Cossacks on November 14 gave a 1 reception, at which a .criminal, carrying bombs, was arrested. He was bribed by the Germans to throw a bomb at the colonel. On the same night tho German, Austrian, and Turkish diplomats wont to Sharaboulazio, near Teheran; the gendarmerie simultaneously started thither ostensibly on a Government expedition. The gendarmerie on sentry duty at the public buildings at Teheran were also ordered to leave, and to shoot every Russian and Englishman they met. A rumour that tho Shall wa6 leaving the palace excited the populace. Meanwhile there were dramatic scenes in the palace. The' boy monarch was bewildered, and so mo weakling persuaded him to quit, while others, including Prince Fi'rmanfirma, urged him to stay in Teheran to the last. During; the day tliG British and Russian Ministers had an audicnce with the monarch, and assured tho Shah of the presence of Russian troops near Teheran to safeguard the public safety. Finally tho Shah decided to remain, and appointed Aenednowles and Prince Firmanfirma to the Cabinet. Meanwhile, the enemy diplomatists, -with the gendarmerie, awaited the Shah's arrival, hoping ho would accompany the gendarmerie to Ispahan and fight against the Russians. Their chagrin was unbounded on learning how the Allies foiled their plans. Tho majority of the gendarmerie returned to Teheran. . v - !
