MIRAMAR AFFAIRS

COUNCIL MEETING. A special meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held at the Council ' Chambers last evening to consider the balance-sheet. The Mayor, Mr. F. Townsend, presided. Councillors Bell Stone, Underwood, Hawthorn, Tracy' Green, ■ and Pollock were also present! The balance-sheet showed a net credit balance of £182 10s. Id. The borough has invested the sum of £11,860. Tho ;balance-sheet' was adopted. An ordinary meeting of the council was subsequently held. It was decided to close down the borough's power-house, and it was left in the hands of the Mayor to arrange for a supply of power from the City station. The Brooklyn Baptist Sunday School ■was granted the use of the Seatoun Park on January 22. The dog tax was fixed at ss. per year. , Mr. Innes was appointed ' actingtown clerk, in place of Mr. Bennett, who has enlisted.
