He said tliat the oluntary system was all right, only s was spasmodic, and did not make for quality of sacrifice. The Dominion's nance could not bo carried on on volntary lines, and the war could not e brought;>to a successful issue under lie voluntary system. He cited the aso of a .widow whose four sons went a the war, while some other people did ot send any sons. All people should e prepared to share the sacrifice and lius have cqualityi "That this union objects to the efforts hat are being made to enforce concription in New Zealand, especially •hen war profits and capital remain oinauched. _ Wherever conscription is in jrce its influence is used against trades nionism, therefore wo taken our stand nth the decision carried by tho British 'rades Union Congress, to resist concription as detrimental to the est interests of unionism, progress, and ersonal liberty." Hie above resolution was carried nanimously at a meeting of the Weill atoll Waterside Workers' Union, eld last evening. There were bout 200 members present.
