■ NEW. ZEALAND WAR CONTINGENT 1 ASSOCIATION. | By Telegraph—Press Association—CopjrliM London, December 15. At a meeting of the New Zealand War Contingent. Association, _ tho Hon. Thomas Mackenzie, chairman, stated that £29,500 had been subscribed, in- ■■■ eluding £1000 from' the Now Zealand Shipping Company, and £500 from the Shaw, Savill Company just received. Mr. Mackenzie stated that 3600 wounded were now in Great' Britain, twenty-six' had .died. The association hoped to ereot a monument at. Walton-on-Thames to their memory. Two hundred beds were being added to the hospital at Walton, which had been an unqualified success. When the King and Queen visited the hospital Their Majesties expressed the utmost gratification with' the arrangements." " Prince Louiu of Battenburg had also'expressed his satisfaction, adding that he always had the kindliest feeling towards New Zealand owing to kindness -shown his son. The War Office was .also endeavouring to concentrate the New Zealanders in a single hospital, removing the possibility of loneliness. The, .convalescent homes at Brighton, Wpodcot-e Park, and Epsom were great successes. Two Now Zealanders who had lost limbs were sent to Queen Mary's Hospital, at Rockhampton, while provision was made for the entertainment of those on furlough. The association also provided the troops with tobacco, shaving tackle, and clothing where necessary. The sum of £500 had been sent to the American Ambassador for the New Zealand prisoners at Constantinople. The 6ailora aboard H.M.S. New Zealand were not beipg forgotten at Cliristmas. The association required funds to carry on the work. , Mr. Mackenzie paid' a tribute to the "invaluablo services of Lord Flunket and Lady Islington. JTHEIR COMMANDING OFFICER. (Rec.
