Bidding -was very spirited at tho D& cember wool sales held at Napier to-day. American and Bradford buyers operated freely, the latter bidding more freely than at the November sales, while the former were not so keen. The catalogue comprised 15,685 bales, against 18,964 last year, the drop being due to showers and private sales. Taken all Tound, the wool was not quite equal to that of last year, the drought having had an effect upon the staple. One noticeable feature wan that whereas the wool in the past has been ten inches in length, this year it was between six apd seven inches. The wool was finer than last year's, there being more yolke in it than has been the case for some years. It was also noticeable that many well-known clips were not included in the catalogue, the owners having taken advantage of the high prices offering privately. In some cases wool -realised id. to Id. above brokers' reserves, whereas pieces' and bellies brought from lfcd. to 2Jd. above brokers' reserves. Competition was very limited, and the major portion catalogue was disposed'of, although some .lots that did not reach vendors' reserves were passed 'in. Prices were practically on a par with November sale's rates, but pieces aud bellies sold at an advance. On account of lack of keenness in the American demand there was a j drop of 2d. in finer clips. | LONDON WOOL SALES.
