PERSONAL ITEMS.
The Hon. 'A. M., Myers returned from Auckland yesterday.
Mr. Guy F. Johnston, son of the Hon, C. J. Johnston, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and Consul for Belgium, went into camp yesteiday as an artillery officer. Mr. Russell Grace, son of the late Dr. Grace, also went into oamp yesterday as an officer. Mr. H."E. Morton, City Architect, of Melbourne, and brother of Mr. W. H. Morton (City Engineer), will succeed Mr. Mountain ae Cjhief Surveyor of Melbourne (the position equivalent' to that of City Engineer here) at the bopinning of the year. Before reaching Wellington, Mr. Morton visited Auckland and Rotorua. He paid a. visit to the Gear Company's works at Petone yesterday, and will leave for Australia to-day by the Motraki.
Mr. E. C. Coombe, of the Public Trust Office, Napier, has been transferred to Auckland.
Miss Gladys G. Armstrong, of. Otago University, has been appointed Home Science Instructress to the Masterton Technical School, from twelve applicants Mrs. Arthur Mead, the talented Christchnrch soprano, who has been studying vocalism in its many phases in London, Paris, and New York, returned to Now Zealand by the-Niagara and passed through Wellington yesterday. •
Mr. 0. F. Thomas, who has been in: the service of the Bank of New Zealand for thirty years, and in Christchurcli since 1908, 'has been appointed by the New Zealand Insuranoe Company to take charge of its trustee, executors', and attorney business.
