'In view of thcs- existiiig circumstances, the Melbourne University Council at its mooting on December 6 decided: that it was inadvisable to reappoint Edward Scliarf .as one (,f tJie "pianoforte teachers at_fhe Timversity cohservatorium. When, the question of the appointment of a lecturer in German was reached, Dr. von Dechand was passed over, and it was decided to appoint' Dr. Lodewyck, a Belgian, who has been on tho staff of tho Melbourne Grammar School tor the last two years. .
