Mr. Philip Suowden, M.P., speaking at Glasgow, said that after the war Labour must resumo tho economic strug. gleyn which it had been weakened meantime by sacrifices willingly made at the call of national patriotism. Labour had never said, "Stop the war," but demanded such a peac9 as would make a\ repetition impossible. Thore were greater signs of a reasonable spirit and desire for peace in continental cotm- • tries to-day than in Britain. Permanent' peace would only be possible when the continental people, instead of their Kings and diplomats, controlled foreign affairs.
