A NEW WAR TOWN IN BRITAIN

"Georgetown" js the name the residents have given to a new State-con-trolled town which has mysteriously sprung up in an unnamed corner of Great Britain. Mr. Lloyd George found an ideal spot for munition works and decided to found a town for tho workers. Some consider it the last word in social experiment. The streets are "numbered" alphabetically,- and everything ols'o is equally up-to-date, including schools, clubs, banks, post offices, public-houses (called canteens), and oven a cinema house. All is national;- thero is no mayor, town clerk, or committee; simply a town manager combining all the municipal functions. Rents are at a minimum, rates are non-oxistent, 6hops aro run on tho co-operative principle. Tho polico are lent at tho Government expense; and motors form the nucleus of a national omnibus servicc.
