SOLDIERS' CHRISTMAS CHEER
THE MAYOR'S FUND. The Mayor's Fund which is being .'raised to provide the soldiers in camp ifith Christmas cheer, has risen to .£2lO 19s. lid., a very satisfactory figure. The response has everywhere been generous. Yesterday Mr. Luke received the following telegram from the Longburn Freezing Works: "Will be pleased to donate twenty carcasses of lamb," and the Southland. Frozen Meat Company (Invcrcargill) said that the works had closed down, but tho company would send a chequ® for £10.
