The New Zealand Poultry Industries, I/td., reports full supplies of eggs reaching the market, but the demand is so keen that the eggs are oleared immediately they arrive. The wholesale price a-s from to« day will be advanced by Id. per dozen t» Is. sd. Poultrymen complain that the action of the Government in lifting the embargo on wheat export, together with reported shortage (which official figures do no bear out) has induced holders to advance the price of wheat fully 9d. per bushel. Fowl wheat users are compelled, they allege, to pay for wha-t is pure nrani-. pulation of the 'market. The increased price is, of course, passed on to the consumer in dearer eggs. Pollard has been raised in sympathy, and poultrymen have to pass that on also. Customs duty collected at the port of Wellington on S&turddff amounted to £5452 13s. lOd. WOOL SALES. At the wool sales choice 'wools were scarce, and for theso there was an extremely excited market, fancy prices being paid for the best lots, especially scoured merinos and New Zealand halfbreds. The following were the, prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named:—"Gear," top price 23d„ average price 13ad.; "Onewha,". top 16d., average 16d. To date 33,378 bales have been catalogued and 31,197 sold. There was a spirited sale, and • all qualities fully maintained the recent advance. Messrs. Murray, Roberts and. Co., Ltd., have received the following ca-blegram from London, dated 10th instant: "Market very l<een with hardening tendency;'ell descriptions of wool 15 per cent, above closing rates of lastealeß; faulty wools fully participating." • NORTH BRITISH AUSTRALASIAN.
