The Hon. Dr. M'Nnb, who has been on an extended recruiting tour in the South Island,, arrived' back in Wellington yesterday morning.
The Camp Commandant at Trentham, in Orders, regrets to announce the deaths of Gunner Dougald A. H. M'Lachlan, N.Z.F.A., who died at Trentham Hospital on December 8, and of Rflmn. H. S. Parsons, B Company, Ist Battalion N.Z.R.B.,'who died at Auckland Hospital, on December 7, 1915. , Mr. A. G. Melville, of Melbourne, deputy-general manager of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, and Mr. E. T. Wray, agency manager, for New Zealand, returned from the South Island on Saturday morning. Messrs. G. B. Hull and R. E. Bennett, who have been appointed 2nd lieutenants in the Artillery Division, go into Trentham Camp next week. Mr. R. E. Bennett. Town Clerk of the Miramar Borough Council, has volunteered for'active service. On Sat urday lie was presented bj; the coimciemployees with a case of pipes. On Saturday Mr. E. P. Mountfort, manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Masterton, who leaves on. Monday for Gisborne, whence he has been transferred, was presented by clients of the bank with a gold watch and chain. A postcard has been, received from Sergeant Hall, a dispenser on the Hospital Ship Maheno, who said he had spoken with one who had witnessed the death of Private R, J. Daniel (who was formerly on the reading start of Tire Dominion", and was an "ex-Samo-an"). "He fought like a man and died game." Mr. Oswald Johnston, youngest son of the late Hon.
