(Continued from 'Page 10) Marriage In St, Mary's. Tho marriage took place oil Wednesday afternoon; in St. Mary's Church, Boulcott Street, of Miss Victoria Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Robinson, well-known residents for many years of Makara, and now of Paraparaumu, to Mr. W. Johnson, eldest son of Mr. C. Johnson, of Northland. Tho bride, who was given away by Mr. J. F. Mills, wore a gown of white satin and a beautiful veil fastened with orange blossoms. Tho bridesmaids ware Miss Sybil Robinson and the Misses Ivy Wilson'aiid Adah PlattsMills, who both wore pretty white frocks and hats, and carried bouquets of pink flowers. There wore also in attendance a. tinypage in black velvet and a little maid in pink Batin, nephew and niece, of the bridegroom.- Mr. Norman Johnson was best man, and the groomsman was Mr. R. Johnson. After the wedding a reception -was held at tho house .of Mrs, Spiers, of Karon, sister of the bride, the ; guests being the relatives and old friends of the two families. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson left for Napier late in tho afternoon, 'the latter travelling in a nattier blue costume and blSck hat. Among the many presents which were received by the bride and bridegroom was one from Dr. Platts-Mills and a set of cutlery and a silver tea service from the management and employees of Messrs. Kempthorne and Prosper. The bridesmaids received pretty gold brooches from the, br'degroom as mementos of the occasion. Wedding In Wesley Churoh. A wedding of a semi-military nature Which attracted much' interest Look place on Tuesday in Wesley. Church, Taranaki Street, when Mr. Bramweil Lidbetter. Hoare, eldest son of Brigadier Chaplain-Captain Hoare, of the Salvation Army, chaplain at the Tauherenikau Camp, was marrie3 to Miss Annie Constance only daughter of the late Mr. A. F. Sissons, of Moreland, Melbourne, and Mrs. Sissons, of Oriental Bay. The ceremany was performed by the bridegroom's father, assisted by the Rev. J. 6. Chapman, of Wesley Church, many friends and relatives being present in the church. The bride, whG was given away by her cousin, Mr, F.-D. Thomson, private secretary to the Prime Minister, wore a trained gown of white crepe do chine, with veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white roses. The. bridesmaids were Miss Flora Parrant and three little girls, sisters of the bridegroom, the Misses Maud, Ivy. and Gladys Hoare. The chief bridesmaid was in white silk, with pretty hat to match, and carried a bouquet of Dorothy Perkius roses. The three little girls were also in white' silk,. and carried crooks. The best man was Mr. W. G. Fleming, and Mr. Temple played tho organ .both before and after the ceremony. A reception was afterward? held at the residence of the bride's mother at Oriental Bay, where tho customary toasts were honoured, and many wishes expressed for the future happiness of the bride and bridegroom. Among the many presents which wore I received was one from the staff of the T. and G. Life Association, of which the bride was formerly a member. In tho evenihjj the guests were entertained at the residence of Brigadier Hoare, "Glemalva," Hanson Street,, among those present being Colonel Powles, of the Salvation' A;-my. : Mr. an 9 . The Riohmond Free Kindergarten Union The 109 th meeting of the Richmond Free Kindergarten Council was held m tho Taranalri School this week. Mrs. Gill, president, was in the chair, and also present were: Mesdamos Moran, Mallet, Anderson, Dixon, D. A. Ewen, Coward, Clark, Misses Helyer, Stowe, England, and Hiscock. It was proposed by Mrs. Mallet, seconded by Mrs. Dixon, that tho thanks of the president and the Council of the Kindergarten bo given to each of tho voluntary students For the help given by her during the past year. The annual examination of tho eight junior students of the Kindergarten took place as under:—Wellington South, November 23, December 2 and 3; Maraliui, November 25; Brooklyn, November 26; Taranalri Street, November 30. Tbs examiner's report states that in each case the students gave a morning talk, and a table period. They showed careful preparation of their notes and. equipment, and in flio execution of drawings and models some excellent skill. One special feature of their work was that the individuality of tlie student was allowed freo play, showing that their training had been given along liberal lines, and tho atmosphere of "order" with love—the true kindergarten spirit—was felt throughout. Necessarily .the first year of training of a voting student is one of overcoming difficulties, but tho examiners felt confident that their earn-, est endeavours vail give them an excel-; lent result durina the coming year. ' At Wellington South on Dccemhor 8 an entrance examination of practical work was given to a Dunedin student, who wished to enter the Kindergartens as a second year student. . Presbyterian Sale of Work. , A sale of work organised by the men of the congregation is somewhat of a novelty among church workers, and in the ono that was held in the Presbyterian Church at Kelbum yosterday much interest was centred, partly perhaps for that reason. The ladies of the congregation have been very busy for a long time with work for the soldiers, 'and it was thoughtfully decided, seeing that such was tho case, that no further call should be made 'upon their time and energies beyond the help they chose to give at the actual time of the sale. It lias to bo acknowledged that the sale was a very successful one,, both financially and otherwise, though after all it was not altogethei a men's affair; The Mayor, Mr. J. P. Luke, conducted ,: the opening ceremony, and was introduced to the gathering of stallholders and'visitors by the Rev. Mr Standage. He congratulated the organisers upon tho results-of .their efforts, and also upon the happy and fortunate surroundings of Kelburn. The pretty' little church had been decorated with foliage and coloured drapery, a&di the fetalis • presented a very attractive appearance. These were in charge of the following;— Woodwork and leather work, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Moore and Mr. Dallard; produon and flowers, Mr. Gray and Mr. Smith; sweets and cake stall, the Young Mon's. Bible Class; toa-room, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Guthrie. The Christmas Tree waa in tho charge of Sir. George Thompson, and so great a centre of attraction was it that a fresh supply of toys had .to be'sent for in the'middle of the afternoon. In the evening an enjoyable entertainment vas given, consisting of an electrical demonstration by Messrs. Smith and Campbell, and moving pictures under the direction of Mr. Taite, junior. Tho proceeds of the sale" go towards the debt reduction fund. For the Wives of Soldiers, Sailors, and Reservists. Another meeting in connection with the entertainment which, is to be given for the wives and children of _ men-of-war sailors, reservists, and soldiers was held in the Y.M.K.A. yesterday afternoon, Mrs. M'Vicar presiding. Muoh interest was displayed in the arrangements, and the meeting was well attended. Many promises of cakes, sweets, toys, and aerated water have already been received, and tho committee and workers will contribute sandwiches. It is hoped that it will be possiblo to provide a Christmas tree for tho children. The offer of Mrs. W. F. Massey of- her garden for the afternoon was gratefully appreciated, hut as the weather, has been so uncertain it was thought better to hold tho entertainment in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, as originally planned. The appreciative thanks of all present/ were expressed to Mrs. Massey for her kind offer. Another offer that was gratefully received was ono froin Mr. H. Coull to provide all the invitation cards. A ; Christmas Tree Committee was set up to carry out all the necessary arrangements for that purpose. Intending donors to th<j' Christmas tree and entertainment are asked to mark their parcels' plainly "For tho Children's Party" when they _ leave them at the Town Hall,' otherwise, with so many thingß being sent; iu to the various patrno tic committees, at work there, ,they are liable to become mixed. Several monetary contributions have been receivod. Miss Smith, of 111 Hill Street, has been appointed secretary for the time being.' Already a fairly large number of the names of. guests have been sent in, and other wives of men-of-war sailors, reservists, and soldiers who think of attending the party are asked to send thoir names in to Mrs. M'Vicar, Brougham Street, Mrs. Grady, Willis Street, and Mrs. Chatfield, 106, Tmakori Road. Tho event is to take place next Saturday afternoon, beginning at half-past two. Mrs. Massey intends to be present on the occasion, and Lady Kelburn and other officers' wivos have also expressed their intention of being present.

Y.W.C.A, Notes. At a meoting of tho Board of Directors of the Young Women's Christian Association, held on Thursday, opportunity was taken by the president, Mrs. R. learson, to express tho appreciation felt' by tho board of tho \ alu'able help rendered during tho past nine months by Miss Kato Lawson, who has been in of tho administration work during the absenco of tho general secretary, Miss Florence Birch. The latest news from Australia is that Miss Birch is now much better, and expects to return to Wellington early in February.
Tho dates announced for tho Wew Zealand Conference of the Y.W.C.A. are from March 7 to 16 inclusive;. The conference will be held at Broad Bay, Dunedin, under the leadership of Miss Helen. F. Barnes, M.A., national secretary for Australasia, who will afterwards visit the various associations in New Zealand. This' is the third conference of its kind held in Now Zealand, and it is hoped that not only those interested in the work of the Y.W.C.A. but sooial workers, and those connected with missionary societies aud Church organisations will take advantage of this opportunity of conferring together and gaming breadth of vision, and enlargement of ideas.
