In regard to tho movement by Liberals to secure an extension of the time limit for recruiting efforts, the Earl of Derby states that his efforts will definitely close on Saturday next. Ho admits that he has not secured sufficient 'men. A RECORD DAY. (Rec. December 10, 10.25 p.m.) London, December 10. Despite a heavy , downpour,' long queues were to be seen at all the recruiting stations. There was a record enrolment in London, the previous figures being quadrupled. • Somo of the men had been waiting eince seven o'clock in the morning, and many of the offices were busy right until midnight. There was an immense responso in all the provincial towns, and suoh a rush of recruits that the medical examinations had to be deferred.
