ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL
. ."SPECIAL MEETING,. . At, a special meeting of the Onslow .Borough Council last alight, the Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump) presided, and there were also'present: Councillors J. G. Smith, AV. Appleton, A. E. Budd, J. M. Dale, L. A. Browne, H. Brenton Rule; C. Bowden, A: W. C. Palmer, arid J. C. Gardner. . . . ' . A letter- was received from the Patriotic Society, suggesting that a branch recruiting office . should be established iu the district to stimulate recruiting.. It was decidfed to reply ".stating that, already_there had been a..splendid.response in the district, and that on account of the few men remaining there the suggested action would not be warranted. . ' In reply to the council's request for an extra Sunday afternoon train, leaving Johnsonville for tho City at 2 o'clock, the General Manager of Railways" stated that the present wao no time for experiments, and the request cou]d not therefore be entertained. On the motion of Councillor Budd, it was resolved to ask that the' matter be reconsidered, on - the-ground that previous experiments had been justified. ■ '■ On the advice of the borough engineer (Mr. R. S. Rounthwaite), it'was, decided to have the water fittings and some of the meters in Kaiwarra inspected. , Authority was given for the supply of certain additional material asked for by the" -Kaiwarra Volunteer . Fire Brigade. A heated disoussion took , place over a proposal to erect a street lamp in Lochiel Road, Khandallah,. but eventually the proposal was agreed to on the voices. !..
