Imperial showed out in front, and led: to the first turn, where the favourite took charge, and was first into the straight, but at the distance Marae'totara challenged, and won comfortably by a length from Cartotour. The favourite was the same distance away. Carlotour gave his supporters a very big return for second place. Merry Dale, High Jinks, and Maid o' Gowrie wore the next to finish.

, Imposter, who carries, the same colours as the steeplechaser Merrie Lad, made a runaway race of the Hack Hurdles, for which ICauwairoa was a hot order. The .winner is a perfect fencer, and was never troubled, winning easily by ten lengths. Rexer just beat the favourite for second place, and then came Glenorchy, Wirokino, Fagot,, and Cyra, with Rongomau, tailed off. . \

. ■ Multiplication was the-.beat-liked in. the Grandstand Hack Handicap. The top weight jumped out well, but was steadied down the back,. and Improve, Lady Daylesford, and Mystified led round the bend and into the straight. At the distance the favourite came out and appealed to bo winning easily, but Lady Nolan Inade. a rush from the baok, and the top weight only got; there by a neck. Lady Dayiesfield was . two'lengths away just ahead of Mystified. . - I'

Another favourite in Square .Deal won the big handicap comfortably. Bertrada was in charge going out of the straight with Stepney and Square Deal next, and Immer, who got away badly, last. Down the back the last-named joined .Bertrada, and the pair were together at the straight entrance, but Square Deal then came round.; them, and .in the tho straight lie won in v good style. Himitapu finished well in second place, and soi did Kooya, who was only a head away. I he lmprovmj 'Bertrada was fourth, and Immer and. Alces next. .There wore 22 starters in the Plying Hack Handicap. Tavistock took chargt, •.at the barrier, and: with Pall Mall led bea.l-ord and a strung-out field into the straight. Here Sea Lord came through, and beat Tavistock comfortably. Hillersden fell in the straight arid broke his leg Martyress was left at the post. Orleans saw a short price in the Borough Handicap, and he ran a creditable race, but Mad no chance with Ineuru, who jumped off in front, and led-the whole way, winning pulling up. Orleans justbeat Haumakaka for second place. Jem was fourth. ' Zeus ran a ! good race-to the turn, but Master Achilles shaped badly, as did Black Lupin. The whole of the twelve acceptors started in the Hack Welter Handicap. Buntjng gave considerable trouble at the post, but the. field moved off in a : line. Field Forw led Wailand down the' back, when' Finisterrc and Discussion moved up, and were first into'the straight. Hifiemau then became -prominent, but in a great finish FinisterreVwon by a head.
