After a long and varied career on the New Zealand coast the Union Company's haupifi has left these waters for good. She cleared Wellington for Durban, yia Fremantle, at 6.10 p.m. yesterday, and on Arrival at the South African port she wall be handed over to her new owners. When the vessel was acquired by the Union Company she was named the Richmond. Subsequently she was employed in the Wellington-West Coast service till the advent of the Mapourika aud Axahura. For several years she was employed in the Fast Coast Bays trade, and since that time she has been laid up in tho stream at Wellington. When she left port last evening the Haupirl looked as good as tshe did twenty years ago. DALMORE TO LOAD. The Scales chartered steamer Dalmore lw.s 6400 tons of coal on board, 4CCO tons of which will be landed at Wellington, aud the balance <at LyVt-clton. It has been arranged for the vessel t-o arrive at tho southern port on December 20, and she will subsequently loa<d wool at Lyttelton, Timaru, Napier, and Wellington, probably | making her departure for London, via Cape Horn, about the end of the month.
PAKEHA LEAVES CAPE TOWN. Cable advice has been received by the head ollicc of t.he Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co. that the Pakelut left Cape Town on December 6 for New Zealand port-s. The liner, which cleared London on November 14, is due at Aucklaud about Decomber 30. and at Wellington about January 6.
The Arahura arrived at Greymouth from Wellington, via way ports, at 9 a.m. yesterday, and was to have left on the retiu'i trip at 9 p.m. Due at Wellington from Timaru this evening, the Corinna will be dispatched for New Plymouth direct to-morrow. At the latter port she will pick up 15,000 boxes of butter and 7CCO crates of cheese for transhipment to the Mamari at Wellington on December 14, As the ferry steamer Maori has to bo docked for cleaning and painting at Lyttelton on Saturday next, no cargo will be received at Wellington oil that day. The 0. and D. liner Star of India arrived here yesterday morning, and berthed at the King's Wharf to land London caTgo. She will complete discharge here, and commence loading for Home. O-herwiso her programme has not been fixed. At 11.40 a.m. yesterday the Government training ship Amoltura left Westport for Picton and Wellington. She- is due horo about Saturday nest to lay up till after the Christmas holidays. It is expected that the 0. and D. liner Nerohana will get <uray from Sydney for Auckland, Napier, and Wellington towards the end-of this week. The vessel is comins from London, and should show lip here about December 22.
The- Kaituna will load a cargo of timber at Grevmouth tlii3 week for Melbourne and Adelaide. Departure will be taken tomorrow.
Information has come to hand stating that the New Zealand Rhfening Company's chartered steamer Asliljurton has left Ilobart in continuation ot her journey to Auckland and 'Wellington. She is due here about December 16 or 17.
On arrival from London, via way ports, t.his morning, tlie Shaw-Savill liner Kia Ora. will berth at tho Taranaki Street Wharf.
The Japanese steamer ICwanto Maru, which visited Wellington a week r.r two <170. and subsco.ucntly left Napier for.Newcastle. has arrived at that port. She lias l)C3n fixed to load coal for the Far East.
Ail expected arrival in port from the Bluff this morniuK is the New Zealand 'Shipping Company's Ruapehu. London carfro will be taken in here, and departure taken for Aucklwd to-morrow evening. The Ruapehu will leave 'the northern port for Home. On December ?, the Turakina left Monte Vi-100 for London. The vessel cleared Auckland on November 12. It was originally intended that the Barber chartered steamer Jetton would coma to New Zealand from New York, and she was due here, this month. Arrangements have been made, however, to tranship her Dominion cargo at Sydney, so the vessel will not make her appearance in theso waters. The Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa -will arrive from Lyttelton this morning, and will take licr departure from the Queen's Wharf at 5 p.m. to-day for Sydney direct. , It is reported that the Knrawa will be taken otF the New Plymouth-Onehimga service early in January, and will be replaced by the Ngauuhi (states an exchange). The trade between Auckland and Tauranga is said to be calling ■ for a larger steamer, and the Rarawa has been mentioned for that service. The matter was recently mentioned to the New Plymouth branch of the Northern Steamship Company, who stated that while the .suggested change was freely spoken of, they had received no official information on tho matter.
