A successful concert was given by Mesdames Hempton and M'Gee ' on Tuesday evening in the Y.M.C.A. Hall, Trcntham, which was crowded, all the items being heartily encored. Recitations, dances, and songs wore given by Mrs. Hempton, Misses Eileen . Grant, Betty Menard, Rita M'Gee, Mavis King, and Doris Symes. Mr. Watson contributed a violin solo, and Mr. . Heminel a trombone solo ; ' and Betty Menard a hornpipe. A military dance, in costume, by (Private) Rita M'Gee and (Lieutenant) Doris Symes, to the tune of "The Soldier," the men in camp joining in the chorus, was much enjoyed. Three cheers were given for the pianists (Mrs. Hempton and Miss Eileen Grant) and three cheers for the concert party, who were afterwards entertained at supper in tlio officers' mess. Motors were kindly lent by Mrs. Levy and Mr. J. G. W. Aitken. Mr. G. A. Fairbrother will sell by public auction at his rooms, Carterton, on December 15, several freehold and leasehold farms.
