CHRISTMAS LEAVE FOR THE MEN X" The Samoan relief 'draft of 25 men went into camp at Narrow Neck on Monday to receive tropical outfit. The Auckland district has supplied 12 men, Wellington 3, Canterbury 5, and Otago 5. The men (it is reported) will do no drill. WELfcOME NEWS. The following is a telephone communication received by the Wellington City' Group Commander (Major Corrigan) from Trentham Camp yesterday :— "Troops in camp will be granted leave on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the following Sunday, also leave on New Year's Eve-, Now Year's Day, and following Sunday. Troops must report by midnight, and the leave is not continuous." Movement of troops. The 10th Mounted Rifles (approximate strength 450) and the Mounted Riflo Reserve (approximate strength 240) will proceed by special train from Trentham to . Tauherenikau Camp to-morroW morning. The Infantry Reserve (approximate strength 650) will move from Trentham to May Morn Camp on Saturday. JOURNALISTS IN KHAKI. The journalists of Wellington are giving a social evening in Wellington on Saturday. All journalists m camp are cordially invited to this function. TAUHERENIKAU CAMP. At Tauherenikau the following temporary appointments have been made:— Pte. B. A. Riskter, N.Z.V.C., to be lance-corporal; '-Pte. H. Macßinder, N.Z.V.C., to be lance-corporal; Pte. P. Vi'. Ludlow, N.Z.V.C., to be lance-cor-poral; Corpl. C. G. Downey, B squadron,. 9th, to be sergeant; Corpl. R. J. Miller, B Squadron, 9th, to be sergeant; Lce.- ' Corpl. H. Kershaw, B Squadron, 9th, to be corporal; Lcc.-Corpl. A. H. Quigley, B • Squadron, 9tli, to be corporal; Ptc. A. V. Beeson, N.Z.A.D.C., to be sergeant-mechanic, N.Z.A.D.C. Sergt. V. L.'Palmer has roported for duty at Tauherenikau, and is attached to tho Army Pay Department. TRENTHAM CAMP, Trentham Camp reports that- 2nd Lieutenant C. S. Babington's resignation from the Expeditionary Forces has been accepted as from December 1, arid that the resjgnation of Lieutenant W. J. Cracroft Wilson has been accepted as from December 7. . At Trentham the following temporary appointments have been made:— D Squadron, 10th Reinforcements.— Privates S. M'lnt.vre, J. A. Bruce, W. B. D. Naylor, R. Smith, and G. Shand, to be lance-corporals.
