THERE SHOULD BE NO FEELING • / OF FALSE SECURITY. "The National Register figures are very satisfactory from the point of view of the Defence Department" said tin* Hon J. Allen yesterday. "But I don't think we should have any feeling 0 f false security about it. A good many men have told us they are willing to .volunteer, but we have still to get tiiem to enlist. I have no doubt, however that we shall get them." ' SIR JOSEPH WARD'S VIEWS. The result of the National Register was referred to by Sir Joseph Ward who opened the Flower Show at Upner Hutt yesterday. There were times ho said, when some people doubted New Zealand's ability to fulfil the obligations which wore upon it of supplying men for the front. The National Register showed that over 100,000 men of'mili tary age were willing to go to th« front. That demonstrated that tile old spirit of courage which wo wero able to tliajik our forbears for existed in this far-distant, land to a rpmarkablo extent. There was every reason to think that, tho manhood of this country would not fail to do tlieir duty for tho gurposc of keeping the grand old
