ANOTHER LETTER BY MR. LEWIS. On Saturday Mr. Joseph, Lewis, secretary of the Wellington Patriotio Society, sent the following letter to Mr. J. Hislop, Under-Secretary to the Department of Internal Affairs: —"I have to acknowledge receipt of your favour of the 3rd instant,'for which I thank you. In. reply, 1 would like to say that I do not see what is to be gained by continuing a controversy through thePress; also I would add that to fully reply to your letter now under acknowledgment would be to again cover the ground I have already traversed. - . "The Tramway Boys' Committee.— The only official known to be connected with the above-mentioned committee is the secretary, Mr. W. C. Noot-, care of the Tramway TJnion Offices, Riddiforcr Street, ■ Newtown. ■ — . - "Dr. Platts-Mills Citizens' Commitfee.—Chairman, Mr. Jno. Mills; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Ballard. Hia above committees represented ono Queen candidate.
"Tho Sports Committee. —Chairman, Mr. S. Hill, - Baler's Buildings, FcaiJhorston Street, Citv; secretary, Mr, A. A. Bennett, late Baker's Buildin®, Featherston Street, City, now, I believe, with Messrs. Boy arid Nicholson, solicitors, Now Plvmouth: treasurer, Mr. Washer, care of Singers, Ltd., Willis Street, City. As tho papers, and books belonging to these committees are now in possession of the auditor, Mr. Ernest W. Hunt, I cannot liorein'inform yon of the amount p*'d in by these committees, ;but will snnnlv you with this information on Monday morn ins next.
