A chemical which had been dropped into the Minnesota's boilers caused the breakdown on the vessel while en route to Britain with war supplies. The Hill liner Minnesota was reported yesterday to be returning: damaged to San Francisco, and three men, it was stated, had been arrested on a charge of causing an explosion in the onginercom. 1 (Rec. San FranciscoIt is alleged that one of the crew declared that tile Minnesota would not reach her destination. ANOTHER STEAMER FIRED. Halifax, December 6. The British' steamer Carlton (5262 tons), bound for England, has arrived hero on fire. It is believed the fire was the work of an incendiary.
