London, December 5. v A copy of a telegram dated November 8 from general headquarters in tlio' Mediterranean to the War Office shojvs, that when the Suvla operations; were first planned, information, subsequentlyverified, indicated that thore was con-'" siderable water in the Biyuk-Anafarta Valloy and on the Suvla Plain, but com? plete preparations, which tho telegram, details, wore made to guard against the risks of the water 1 being confined or of inability to speedily develop local resources. Dealing with the arrangements ait Anzac, the telegram states tliat a, high-level reservoir was .built, with a 30,000-gallon capacity, < ; "and "a pipe system of distribution.. Tanks.and a stationary engine capable of filling the reservoir were brought from.Egypt,but tho engine broke dow'u at ono period. A further supply was to be secured by lighters and wat-erships. Theso wore under naval control, but lto Retail? are available., It was arranged that' the army's responsibility should he confined . to emptying the lighters and distribut; ing the water to the troops, the Navy undertaking the replacing of empties with'full ones. Tho admiral's arrangements were considered adequate to provide for a full supply. A further snip, with tanks and troughs of a capacity of 195,000 gallons, for election on tha beach or it local wolls, also 300 water buckets and six pumps, was to bo eup< plied.
