Record entries have been received by the Manawatu Racing Club for its Summer Meeting to be held 011 December 27, 2S, and 29. The total shows an'increase of over 100 on last year's figures.

With Chortle engaged in the principal handicaps at Awapuni, Messrs. Henrys and Coyle, the club's handlcappers, will not have to look round fer a top-weight.

The locally-owned Taringamntu is eneased in the distance handicaps' at the Manawatu Meeting, but her name does not . figure in the sprint events.

With fho exception of the open sprints which have not drawn a very good class of horses the vavious events at Awapuni have filled extra well.

There was a big weeding-out at the first acceptances for the Auckland Cu» anil Railway Handicap, but the majority of the good performers have stood their ground, and the field in the Cup will be much bigger than that which contested the New Zealand Cup. 'The most prominent defection from the Railway Handicap is Three, anft as he has not been engaged at Awapmii, thero is possiblv something in the report that the Welkin colt is shortly *o return to Melbourne.

The Messrs. Riddiford will be represented at Auckland by Chakwana, who is nicely weighted in tjhc Rnilwav Handicap, with Bst. lib., and. Menelaus. tho full-brotlier to- Nones, who will contest tho 2-ycar-old handicap events.

The Porirua. team will be divided at Christmas, and some of them will raco at Awapuni and others at Ellerslie. Goldstream, Mlartyress, Stepney, Whanake, Tango, and Merry Dale will go to the Manawatu Sxeeting, and Rockliound, Gold Sonlt, Limpet, Belasco, Naupata, and Kaiwairoa will do battle at Ellerslie.

According to present intentions. Mr. C. G. Dalgety will start both liis representatives in the Auckland Cup. Warstep will be ridden by F. E. Jones, while G. Clarke will have the mount on Snnb.

The colt Costello, 'mentioned in tlio cablegrams as having been bought for I New Zealand at 760 guineas, is the three-year-old by Ifnreo from Perjury, by Persimmon from Word of Honour, bv Saraband from Geheimniss.
