Philip Snowden (Socialist) requested the prosecution of the Bishop of Salisbury (Dr. Ridgeway) on a charge of threatening: clergymen enlisting with the loss of their livings. Mr. Snowden asked whether the Earl of Derby was-canvass-ing tlie clergy Mr. H. J. Tennant, Parliamentary-Under-Secrotary for War, replying, 6aid: enlisted clergy liad been put in their proper apre groups. Ho was not aware of the Church leaders' reported statements. Tho War Office was not dis--posed to act against those who believed that clergymen and nearly qualified medical men best served by remaining at liomo.
