PETONE SWIMMING CLUB
The report to he presented at tlio first annual meeting of the Petone Amateur Swimming and Life-Saving Club states that the'season had been a good one, although the club had been handicapped through the lack of rooms and a swimming course. Arrangements had been made with tho Petone Borough Council, whereby the use of two rooms, containing shower baths, in the municipal boat shed, has <bee'n obtained, and also the use of the roof (under certain conditions) for sun-bathing purposes." One gala was held during the year, and very great interest was taken in the programme. The thanks of the club are due to i;he City clubs for their support, and to all who donated trophies for competition. The club was represented at the Wellington galas, and Messrs. G. Tancred, G. Dent, and C. Price were successful competitors. The committee urges upon members the necessity, for regular training and attendance at the club rooms. Last year practically no attention was paid to'the life-saving branch, hut it is intended to approach the Petone Council for the necessary equipment shortly, and members are to receive instruction from tho Wellington instructor (Mr. Duffy),
